Action Contre la Faim : les 3AI se mobilisent pour Haïti ! - Page 3

  • Action contre la faim

Action Contre la Faim is a French association created in 1979 by French doctors, scientists and writers to fight against malnutrition in the world.

At the beginning the organization provided assistance to Afghanistan refugees, Ugadan and Combodian communities in the 80’. It started to expend its actions in Africa, in the Middle East, in Southeast Asia, and in the Balkans.

Action Contre la Faim saves lives while building long-term strategies for self-sufficiency, here are examples of their actions:

    • Lives saved in 45 country
    • More than 13.5 million of people saved in 2014
    • More than 35 years of expertise in contexts of conflict, disasters and food crises

Their global efforts save hundreds of thousands of lives each year, but millions of malnourished children remain in need of lifesaving treatment.

Deadly malnutrition claims the lives of 1 million children each year, even though it’s:

    1. PREDICTABLE: We know where and when to expect acute malnutrition
    2. PREVENTABLE: We know how to help children stay healthy
    3. TREATABLE: Therapeutic ready-to-use foods can help save millions
    4. AFFORDABLE: Just $45 can provide a child with lifesaving treatment

Action Contre la Faim is an organization fighting against hunger but not only, it can also step in:

    Emergency Response

    Food Security & Livelihoods

    Water, Sanitation & Hygiene

    Nutrition and Health

  • Lissa’s Diary :

    DAY 1
Hello, my name is Lissa, I’m 16 and today, I decided to start my own Diary.
Today, I’m writing because of some happy event: I’m proud and happy to announce the birth of my little sister Kensia! I hope she won’t die, not like him… I’ve already lost too many people in my life and I wouldn’t be able to stand the pain if I had to lose someone else.
Here in Haiti, 1 child out of 10 usually dies of diseases, malnutrition or a lot of terrible stuff.
My brother died 2 years ago of malnutrition.
But anyway, she seems strong, she will live, she will breath, love, hate, learn to deal with pain. Sometimes, I wonder how it would feel to be a normal girl in a normal world. But I can’t answer this and I can’t waste too much time, I have to help my parents. I have to get water for my family, to walk 8 km every day to go to school. I have no time for those questions, I have no time for me.
Well, today I have to take care of Kensia so cannot write any longer, I hope that I’ll find time tomorrow…
    Goodbye
    Lissa
